We are please to announce that Dr Craig Stott’s new article ‘Identifying External Collaborator Learning: a platform to guide architecture live project educators’ has just been published.
Abstract: Architecture faces increasing marginalisation, partly due to architects’ inability to articulate their role, a challenge rooted in education. This study explores how live projects, through co-design with external collaborators, can bridge the gap between architectural pedagogy and practice. While student learning in live projects is well-documented, the knowledge gained by external collaborators is currently overlooked. The Co-Lateral Learning Platform addresses this by mapping twelve principles of architectural education that external collaborators might acquire. This framework enables educators to refine their praxis, fostering a more inclusive and impactful architectural education while reinforcing architects’ broader social and professional influence.
The journal article is published in Volume 10 (Issue 1) of Charrette ‘an open access peer reviewed journal of the association of architectural educators (aae).’
